§ Mr. WaldegraveSuccessive British Governments have never recognised de jure the forcible incorporation of the324W former Baltic states in the Soviet Union. It follows that we respect the right of the peoples of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to say what their own future should be. Considerable progress has been made towards greater democracy in the Baltic states in recent months. We welcome this.
