To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many military ambulances are available for use by a civilian power in the west midlands; and if he will make a statement.

A total of 54 service ambulances have been allocated for deployment in the west midlands if required to assist in the maintenance of essential accident and emergency services for the civilian population.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many ambulances from(a) the Army, (b) the Royal Navy and (c) the Royal Air Force have been deployed on civilian duties in the current ambulance dispute.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

To date, 54 Army ambulances, six Royal Air Force ambulances and no Royal Navy ambulances have been deployed on civilian duties in the current ambulance dispute.
