§ Mr. William RossTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Gwent as to his practice on the issuing of temporary shotgun or firearms certificates to the holders of expiring shotgun or firearms certificates when the chief constable has not completed his inquiries prior to the expiry of the existing certificate.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThe Firearms Acts 1968 to 1988 do not provide for the issue of temporary shotgun or firearm certificates. The issue of certificates, and permits under section 7 of the 1968 Act, are entirely matters for chief officers of police.
