Mr. Straw

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will publish tables for each local education authority for England, giving the average level of attainment of pupils in public examinations for the latest available date, adjusted to take account of the socio-economic background of pupils in each area in a manner similar to that used by his Department in its statistical bulletins, and the ranking of local education authorities when data are adjusted in this way, and when unadjusted.
