HC Deb 16 November 1989 vol 160 c438W
Mr. Thurnham

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether he has any plans to relocate his Department's offices to the north-west of England; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on 14 November at c.170 to my hon. Friend the Member for Colne Valley (Mr. Riddick). We decided on Leeds after the most careful consideration of its advantages and those of other possible locations, including several in the north-west.
