§ Mr. Ian GristFrom the 1988 labour force survey it is estimated that 2.3 per cent. of the adult population of private households were single parents with children under 16.
Local authority returns indicate that 29 per cent. of all adults in households accepted as homeless by local authorities in Wales in 1988 were recorded as lone parents with dependent children.
