§ Mr. Andrew WelshTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to promote the use of T and J nets for north-east England salmon fishing; and what corresponding restrictions he intends to place on the use of drift nets for such fishing.
§ Mr. CurryWe are currently in the process of considering the nature and extent of all salmon net fishing off the north-east coast of England and eastern Scotland as part of a statutory review, required under section 39 of the Salmon Act 1986.
Work on the review is underway and Ministers will submit their report to Parliament in due course.
