To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs which countries the United Kingdom does not recognise.

Mr. Sainsbury

There are a number of territories not recognised by the United Kingdom as independent sovereign states:

  • North Korea
  • Taiwan
  • Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
  • Micronesia
  • Palestine
  • Saharan Arab Democratic Republic
  • Transkei, Ciskei, Venda and Bophuthatswana (the South African "homelands").
