To ask the Secretary of State for Health what audit systems he has devised to measure the level and effectiveness of provision of essential life-saving equipment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

It is for individual health authorities to assess the level of requirement for, and to review the effectiveness of, life-saving equipment in hospitals.
