HC Deb 14 November 1989 vol 160 c233W
Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the future of Greenways school, Grassendale, Liverpool, and the special education in that city.

Mr. Alan Howarth

The Liverpool local education authority published a preliminary report on special educational provision in the city in June. That report recommends the closure of Greenways and White Thorn special schools, and the establishment of three new nursery/infant assessment units. However, no formal proposals under section 14 of the Education Act 1981 have as yet been received by the Secretary of State in respect of the closure of these schools.
