§ Mr. Nicholls[holding answer 13 November 1989]: Records are kept on the basis for the standard financial year for accounting for Government expenditure, which runs from 1 April to 31 March.
The Department of Employment Training Agency (ex-MSC, ex-Training Commission) spent the following on training schemes including special employment measures for the number of participants shown:

Number of "participants" is the number of people who entered training during the year. This includes a number of people who may have started for a second or subsequent time.
