§ 65. Mr. SedgemoreTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science by what powers he prevented the economic and social research council supporting the survey of sexual behaviour proposed for the study of the epidemiology of AIDS.
Mr. JacksonMy right hon. Friend did not exercise any power to prevent the Economic and Social Research Council from supporting the survey and the council did not seek our advice on this. It decided not to proceed following the Government's decision not to provide financial support from the Department of Health's research programme.
