HC Deb 13 November 1989 vol 160 cc47-8W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what discussions he has had with Trafford health authority about proposals to reduce service levels in 1990–91; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

The Trafford health authority is responsible for planning hospital and community services in the districts within the resources made available to it by North West regional health authority. These resources have not yet been announced for 1990–91 but, as is usual, they have been asked to develop plans based on resource assumptions. They are required to maintain the level of services in 1990–91 and to ensure a balance of income and expenditure. It is for the Trafford health authority to formulate its plans and to submit them to the North Western regional health authority for agreement as part of the regional plan.
