To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will review the operation of the Bank of England Act 1946; and if he will make a statement.

The Government have no plans to review the Bank of England Act 1946.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the benefits to the Bank of England of emulating the more independent stances, in relation to their central Governments, of the Bundesbank and the United States Federal Reserve Board.
