HC Deb 07 November 1989 vol 159 c572W
88. Mr. Marlow

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what evidence he has that patients are susceptible to changing their general practitioners according to the differing perceived levels of service available; and to what extent the patient is able to measure that perception.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

It is the Government's view, clearly set out in our White Paper "Promoting Better Health", that patients should have adequate information on which to base their choice of general practitioner. A number of measures are being implemented to achieve this objective, including, for those who choose to do so, a simplified procedure for changing doctor.
