To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of applications received for registration for citizenship by 31 December 1987.

The number of applications for registration for citizenship received in caseworking groups during 1987 was 57,322. In addition, there were a substantial number of applications for registration received in the Home Office which were received in groups after 1987. A figure for this is not currently available.
