HC Deb 02 November 1989 vol 159 c332W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what amount of(a) toxic wastes and (b) radioactive wastes arising from military experiments exist at Potton island in Essex; under what environmental regulations these wastes are managed; what is the long-term plan for the disposal of these wastes; and what is his estimate of the total cost of this disposal strategy.

Mr. Neubert

There are no known toxic or radioactive wastes at Potton island. The area is being cleared of residual conventional munitions and explosives. To date this has cost some £40,000.
