§ Mr. NewtonThe Post Office, jointly with its users council POUNC, has today published the first results from its new independent end-to-end monitoring system based on the time taken from collection of letters to their actual delivery. Thus performance will now be measured in a way which reflects users' actual experience of the postal system.
The Post Office has also announced, with the endorsement of POUNC, new targets for improving the performance revealed by the figures, and a number of other steps to improve its service, including improved transport arrangements and the provision of better information to households about the best time to post for particular destinations.
