§ Mr. GristBreast screening is currently being introduced into the NHS in Wales with the objective of covering the whole of the Principality by 1990. This timetable, which is the same as that for England, is the fastest at which this entirely new service can realistically be implemented in a safe and effective way. A total of £1.8 million has been made available for the service in the current financial year.

§ Mr. GristCervical screening is the responsibility of district health authorities. In order further to improve the service a recurring sum of £600,000 has been made available in Wales this financial year in addition to the £800,000 a year which has been allocated to health authorities in previous years.
