§ Mr. Lee[holding answer 19 May 1989]:Unemployment rates by ethnic origin are available from 354W the labour force survey for single years from 1983 to 1988 for Great Britain as shown in table 1. They are available for standard regions, Wales and Scotland averaged over.three years as shown in tables 2–5; these averages produce more reliable estimates for ethnic groups than do data for a single year. Further, estimates are not shown in the tables where they are based on small samples.
