HC Deb 18 May 1989 vol 153 c277W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many motor vehicle accidents resulting in(a) death, (b) injury and (c) other have taken place each year since 1980 where deaf drivers have been involved and deafness has been (i) the main cause or (ii) a contributory cause.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The information requested cannot be obtained as the STATS19 road accident report form records neither cause of accident nor the incidence of deaf drivers involved in road accidents.

There is no reason to believe that a deaf person is more at risk of causing, or being involved in, a crash than any other driver.
