In addition, my Department is giving specific encouragement through its support for research and development on renewable forms of energy and clean, more efficient, coal technologies.
147WIn recognition of the potential of renewables, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State recently announced that the Government had decided to add a number of extra tranches to the non-fossil fuel obligation. These will be reserved exclusively for renewable projects. This will help realise the environmental benefits which renewables offer.
