Whole-time equivalents in post as at 30 September. 2 No adjustment has been made for the change in working hours (from 40 to 37½ hours per week) during 1980. 3 Based on NHS pay records for staff paid at the Royal Gwent, St. Woolos and Allt-yr-yn hospitals and at community pay units in Newport. It is not possible to adjust for staff paid at one unit working partly at another. 4 Learners are excluded because they are mostly paid (ie recorded) at one central point and it is hence not possible to break doen their numbers by hospital. 5 Provisional.
