§ Mr. Donald ThompsonThe purchasing system for plant and equipment operated by my Department is aimed at securing value for money and ensuring that the money is spent in accordance with Parliament's wishes. Periodic revaluations of plant and equipment are not required and do not feature in my Department's accounts. An estimate of replacement costs could be made only at disproportionate cost.
