§ 25. Mr. David EvansTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps his Department is taking to help encourage recruitment into the police force in the light of the growing shortage of young people coming on to the employment market.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggA working party has been set up by the Police advisory board to examine the recruitment problems arising from the reduction in numbers of school leavers and to make recommendations for future recruiting strategy. I hope that the working party's recommendations will be ready for consideration at the board's next meeting in the autumn.
