§ Mr. Needham[holding answer 5 May 1989]: In Northern Ireland environmental health officers, outside Belfast, are employed within regional groups of councils. Some officers are retained at group headquarters and provide specialist services to each constituent council. Each council also has its own complement of environmental health officers. The numbers employed are as follows:
