§ Mr. WaldegraveThe stated objective of the Warsaw pact is the elimination of nuclear weapons from Europe. NATO is committed to maintaining an adequate and effective mix of conventional and nuclear forces, including land-based missiles in Europe. Given this conflict of objectives, it is hard to see how there could be a fruitful outcome to any negotiations.
