§ Mr. ForthThe distribution of Department of Trade and Industry's research establishments falls in two regions —Scotland and the south-east. There is one establishment in Scotland and three are in the south-east.
The total number of staff in post at 1 March 1989 (excluding casual staff) was 1,951, of which 30 per cent. were in Scotland and 70 per cent. in the south-east. The research establishments and their staff are:
