To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is his current estimate of the number of annual flights that will be necessary to transport plutonium reprocessed at Sellafield back to customers once the THORP facility is opened.

[holding answer 22 March 1989]: On present information it is estimated that around 30 flights per year will be needed.
