HC Deb 23 March 1989 vol 149 c706W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the circumstances in which a radioactive nuclear fuel transporter was left unguarded for several days at the beginning of March near the Mech Cast factory in the railway sidings at Carr hill, Doncaster.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The nuclear fuel transporter in Carr hill sidings from the 3–8 March was awaiting repair. It did not contain a nuclear fuel flask. The weatherproof cover was in place and this may have given the false impression that the wagon was loaded.
