§ Mr. Michael MarshallTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he hopes to make an announcement regarding the choice of route for the A27 Arundel bypass; and if, in the light of recent road accidents, he will take into account the need for urgent provision of safe crossing facilities for north and south traffic at the Avisford/Walberton/Slindon interchange.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyWe hope to announce the preferred route by about the middle of next year. The subsequent detailed design will include a new B2132 junction.
In view of the recent accidents near the junction the Department are investigating possible accident prevention measures, for the period before the bypass is built.
