To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current trend in the supply of affordable rented accommodation.

The annual number of lettings of local authority and housing association housing has held up well in recent years. Our plans to increase private investment in the housing association sector and the 80 per cent. increase in the Housing Corporation's programme should significantly raise the output of new subsidised housing association dwellings.
