To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will estimate the population of England and Wales in 1986, 1987 and 1988.

The estimates of resident population for England and Wales at mid-1986 and mid-1987 are 50,075,000 and 50,243,000 respectively. An estimate for mid-1988 will be available shortly.
