HC Deb 22 March 1989 vol 149 c652W
Mrs. Ray Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many inspectors responsible for landfill sites are currently employed in Scotland.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 16 March 1989]: The authorities responsible for landfill sites are the district and islands councils. The hazardous waste inspectorate of the Scottish Development Department, which examines the management of hazardous waste by the responsible authorities, employs six staff for a part of their time equivalent to about two full-time officers.
