§ 42. Mr. BowisTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what discussions he has held with the health authorities concerning primary health care.
§ Mr. MellorFollowing publication of "Primary Health Care—An Agenda for Discussion" in April 1986, Health Ministers chaired 12 public consultation meetings in different parts of the country. Health Authorities were represented at a number of meetings. Full account was taken of the views expressed during the consultation process in the White Paper "Promoting Better Health" which was published in November 1987. Ministers also discussed their proposals with the chairmen of all 90 family practitioner committees in England at a series of meetings in April and May 1988. In addition officials have held regular meetings with individual family practitioner committees and with representatives of the Society of Family Practitioner Committees and the Society of Administrators, Family Practitioner Services.
