§ Mr. Forth[holding answer 15 March 1989]: Work connected with the EC involves a great many staff in the 497W Department since the development of the single European market influences a large and increasing proportion of the DTI's work. It is not possible except at disproportionate cost to provide disaggregated figures in the form requested.
