§ Mr. Donald ThompsonSection 39 of the Salmon Act 1986 requires my right hon. Friends the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State for Scotland to prepare and submit to Parliament a report reviewing salmon netting off the coasts of north-east England and eastern Scotland. That report is to be submitted as soon as practicable after 7 November 1989, three years after the enactment of the 1986 Act. Work on the review is currently in hand and it would not be appropriate to pre-empt it.
