HC Deb 20 March 1989 vol 149 c451W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Attorney-General if he will provide details of how the north-east London area advisory committee on the appointment of justices of the peace is undergoing the process of reconstitution; for what purpose; and what progress has been made.

The Solicitor-General

The reconstitution of the north-east London area advisory committee is a routine matter. All the Lord Chancellor's advisory committees on the appointment of justices are subject to a similar process every three years. Appointments are made by the Lord Chancellor on the recommendation of the chairman. The purpose is to obtain a balance of new and experienced members who broadly reflect the composition of the area served.
