§ Mr. Peter WalkerA contract for the supply of computer hardware and software together with computerised statistical, financial and management systems was awarded to IBM (UK) Ltd. in August 1986. The value of the contract, over 10 years, is £1.6 million. Approximately £1 million has been paid to the contractor in accordance with the terms of the contract for goods and services which have been delivered to and accepted by my Department. The contractor was unable to deliver all the components specified in the contract to the original timetable because of technical difficulties, but it is now expected that the contract will be completely fulfilled by the end of September 1989.
