§ 49. Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will increase the compensation payable on cattle found to be suffering from bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonI believe the compensation paid is fair, given that the animals are suffering from a terminal illness but are valued as though unaffected by the disease.
§ 11. Mr. BoyesTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will ban the sale of those organs from all cull cows and sheep that are known to carry the viral agent which causes bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonI refer the hon. Member to the reply given today to the Member for Caerphilly (Mr. Davies).
