HL Deb 15 March 1989 vol 505 c326WA
Lord St. John of Fawsley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the risk of salmonella in quails' eggs.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

Salmonella isolations, which are required to be reported under the recently re-enacted Zoonoses Order 1989, are rare in quails or their eggs, the most recent such isolation having been reported in May 1987.
