Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list for each country(a) the number of applications to enter the United Kingdom for marriage under paragraphs 41 and 46 of the immigration rules and (b) the number of refusals of such applications in (i) 1987 and (ii) 1988.

The information requested on fiancé(e)s (paragraph 41 of the immigration rules) and spouses (paragraph 46) applying for entry clearance to the United Kingdom is available centrally only for those countries specified in the following table.
