HC Deb 13 March 1989 vol 149 c18W
Mr. Warren

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will ascertain from the major oil companies why they are not prepared to ensure that their tied garages are supplied with unleaded petrol if they wish to sell it; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The supply of unleaded petrol is a commercial decision for the oil companies. The number of garages selling unleaded petrol is growing steadily. The latest available figures, for the end of January, were a weekly conversion rate of over 200 garages and over 4,300 already converted.
