HC Deb 13 March 1989 vol 149 c99W
Mrs. Rosie Barnes

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what review he has made of the effectiveness of the Hearing Aid Council.

Mr. Forth

I am content that the Hearing Aid Council fully discharges its responsibilities set out in the Hearing Aid Council Act 1968.

The Bill promoted by the hon. Member for Ynys Môn (Mr. Jones) would make changes to the Act. The Government will seek to ensure that the best possible Bill for all concerned emerges.

I am also considering with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health the suggestions made by the RNID in its "Fair Hearing Campaign" document.
