HC Deb 10 March 1989 vol 148 c720W
Mrs. Mahon

To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he intends to amend the National Health Service (Travelling Expenses in Remission of Charges) Regulations 1988, so that he can deal with the cases of people wanting help with National Health Service costs stockpiled at Newcastle.

Mr. Mellor

I intend to lay regulations amending the National Health Service (Travelling Expenses and Remission of Charges) Regulations, to take effect from 10 April. The amendments will apply only to claims made after that date. Claims currently stockpiled will be assessed under the existing regulations when the problem referred to in my reply to the hon. Member on 7 March, at column491, has been resolved.
