§ Mr. John PattenIn 1987, a total of 502 juveniles aged under 17 years were sentenced to immediate custody at all courts in Greater Manchester; that was 12 per cent. of the juveniles sentenced to immediate custody in 1987 throughout England and Wales. The 1988 figures are not yet available.
