To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what issues he expects to raise at the next European Community Council meeting.

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the Foreign Affairs Council. The next meeting will be on 20–21 March. The agenda is expected to include consideration of the way forward in the GATT Uruguay round negotiations, and the relationship between the Community and the Council of Europe. A ministerial meeting with the EFTA countries will be held in the margins. Measures to tackle EC fraud are expected to be discussed in ECOFIN on 13 March.
