§ Mr. HurdI have placed in the Library copies of a consultation paper on absent voting, together with a paper on associated costs, which the home Departments are issuing today to representatives of the local authorities, electoral registration officers and main political parties. This discusses possible ways of remedying certain difficulties regarding postal and proxy voting which arose during the 1987 general election.
