HL Deb 01 March 1989 vol 504 c1133WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action has been taken to enforce the Prohibition of Female Circumcision Act 1985 and how many prosecutions or warnings have been brought.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

Action to enforce the Act is a matter for chief officers of police. Information held centrally, which may be incomplete, indicates that no prosecutions have been brought. No information is available about the number of warnings given.
