HL Deb 28 June 1989 vol 509 c833WA
Lord Fanshawe of Richmond

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In view of the Answer to Lord Fanshawe's Question on 4th April 1989 (Official Report, col. 1186), why litter has not yet been cleared from the central reservation of the A.4 Hammersmith flyover and the Chiswick elevated section.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Transport is looking into the noble Lord's complaint and will write to him shortly.

The two local authorities who maintain their part of the A.4 as agents of my right honourable friend were asked to carry out special litter clearance in addition to the normal clearance operations. As the noble Lord knows, additional funds were allocated for this purpose.
